Does the lord Condone slavery ? in the book of exodus he had laws that seem to condone it?

like if you are a slave and you get given a wife by your master and the wife bore you 2 children, then the wife and the 2 children belong to the master, and if you want to leave, you cannot take the wife and the kids with you. but if you love your wife and kids so much, then you have to become your masters slave for life and your ears will be tagged. this sounds kinds wrong ? or am i using modern world morality to judge ancient world morality ?
