Do you ever need to lubricate inside of an outboard 2 stroke engine?
I know you need to lubricate the gears down near the propeller, and the oil you add to the gas will lubricate the rings on the pistons. But what about the bearings on the crank shaft? How does it stay lubricated? Does the oil just stay in there forever? Or does some of the oil leak out of the cylinders and lubricate the crank shaft this way? If a boat has been sitting for a very long time, is it safe to assume that its okay to just start it up and run it as long as you fill it with oil down near the propeller?
